I just finished printing out the detailed day by day map for my upcoming vacation. The vacation is a total of 16 days. I now have a binder that has a tab for each day of the trip. On that day is the driving requirements with all of the turns printed and driving distances.
I have also installed and tested my cellular modem connection. At the house, I am getting 230kpbs which is not too shabby. We'll see how well I do high up in the Rockies.
Lastly, I just borrowed a GPS device from my father. I am going to program it for the trip as well.
You can never have too many gadgets.
As I promised yesterday, I have created a couple of video snippets of some of the video I shot on Saturday while my wife and I drove to Lake Tahoe. I have created two movies containing the same information. One is optimized for dial-ups and slow connections and the other is for people with a broadband connection. Here you go...
Long time no hear...
In an attempt to get me to start adding entries into this blog again, I have committed to post daily entries during my upcoming vacation. My wife and I are taking a two week RV trip that will encompass seven western states; California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, and Oregon.
The primary destinations for the vacation are family residences, Yellowstone, and a peek into a possible location to move to. The trip will contain approximately 2800 miles of driving. We will be renting a Class C RV.
The RV is a 31' Coachman with a single slide-out. It has a bedroom in the back and the galley, kitchen, is in the middle.
One of the methods that I want to use to post blog entries is video. As you know, I try and learn as many different technical methods possible. I purchased a Canon Optura 40 camcorder online and received it on Friday. Over the weekend my wife and I drove to Lake Tahoe and we shot some video footage.
Hopefully, during the next week or so, I plan on figuring out how to convert this digital video to a format that can be accessed via this blog. Wish me luck. This is all new territory for me.
